IRISH EYE ANOTHER UPSET IN STATE PLAYOFFS

The Dublin High School Fighting Irish Boys Soccer team prepare to play Wesleyan in the second round of the AA State Playoffs in Norcross. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

DHS IB student attending Harvard program

DHS IB student Kennedy Blackwell-Lewis will be attending Harvard this summer for a special pre-college program.

DHS HONORS DAY RECIPIENTS LIST

Dublin High School hosted its Class of 2016 Honors Day program April 20 in the auditorium. A total of 26 scholarships totaling more than $325,000 were handed out, with 23 students slated to graduate with honors receiving a gold cord to conclude the program. Fourteen students earned International Baccalaureate (blue) honor cords for completing IB coursework while two students earned IB diplomas in addition to their DHS diploma. Platinum Seniors were presented a silver cord. Department, CTAE, RESA, Rotary Speech, Attendance, PSAT and Georgia Certificate of Merit winners were also honored. Graduation is slated for May 27 at the DHS gymnasium.

A walk to the kitchen in search of a cold soda has turned into an unexpected trip to the Tellus Science Museum and high honors in science for Dublin Middle Schooler Amaya Rozier.

While a certain caped crusader tangled with a man of steel on the big screen, Dublin High School’s Sources of Strength team earned top honors recently for putting pen to paper on a Hero Squad of their own.

Dublin City Schools is participating in the USDA’s “Summer Feeding Program” and is reaching out to sites that wish to participate in the program.

KEITH L. BROWN, MR. I'M POSSIBLE, SPEAKS AT YOUTH RALLY

Motivational speaker Keith L. Brown, or Mr. “I’m Possible,” captivated the more than 250 high school students from Dublin City and Laurens County schools with his inspirational message that they too can be a success regardless of any obstacle. Brown, who was listed as “Special Ed” in his youth, grew up to become one of the most sought-after motivational speakers in the nation. Irish im-PRESS at Lift-A-Thon

The Dublin Irish im-pressed more than 60 at the DHS gym March 30 when they participated in the first-ever Lift-A-Thon. Football players from 8-12 grade attempted spring maxes in bench press and power clean. The event was designed to mimic NFL pro days. Players were also able to receive donations based on their max to help the football team. Look for more scenes in our photo galleries.

WALKER CROWNED MISS DHS 2016

Deveshia Walker was crowned Miss DHS 2016 during the pageant held Saturday, March 26 at the DHS Auditorium.

DHS GIRLS SOCCER VOLUNTEERS AT ST. PAT'S RACE

Several girls on the Lady Irish varsity soccer team volunteered this morning at the Erin Go Bragh road races (1 mile, 4 mile, 8 mile, and 1/2 marathon). This is an official St. Patrick's Day event. They represented Dublin High School well. A few of the girls manned the fruit table and passed out water, while others helped with the timing at the finish line. The girls were also judges is in the annual dog walk.

Dublin High School released its 2016 Varsity and Junior Girls soccer schedule.

Valmiera Glass to invest $1 Million in Career Academy training facility

The Heart of Georgia College and Career Academy served as the host site for the formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding acknowledging Valmiera Glass’ expansion of its North American headquarters in Dublin. Along with the planned 425 additional jobs and $90-million site expansion, owner Jurgen Preiss-Daimler announced plans to invest $1 million in new training facilities to be located at the Career Academy. The event was attended by a host of officials, including Congressman Rick Allen. 

DHS FBLA ATTENDS REGION CONFERENCE

Dublin High School's FBLA attended the region conference in Swainsboro.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR 2015-16 TEACHER OF THE YEAR GROUP PHOTO

School-level Teachers of the Year were honored during a special luncheon held at Dublin Country Club Jan. 7, 2016, with Hillcrest Elementary Media Specialist Wayne Clark selected as the system-wide Teacher of the Year.
